Second-year driver Simona De Silvestro is once again entered to drive the No. 34 entry for Newman Wachs Racing in the Atlantic Series. The Swiss racer is the only woman among the 22 entries.

Simona was involved in a first lap accident in her first Mazda MX-5 race - Round 8 (and final round) at Miller Motorsports Park, Tooele, Utah. She had been gridded 7th in the 30 car field.

Champ Car Atlantic standout and one of the top female racers in the country Simona will complete in Round 8 (and final round) of the Mazda MX-5 Cup at Miller Motorsports Park, Tooele, Utah, Saturday, September 15.

Simona started 17th at the San Jose Grand Prix July 29th and finished 10th out of 25. She is currently 18th in the standings. The final race of the season is scheduled for August 11-12 at Road America.

Simona finished 4th in Round 9 and 10 of Formula BMW at the San Jose Grand Prix. July 29-30, 2006. She holds 3rd over-all, one point behind Matt Lee. Next up, the Grand Prix of Denver, August 11-13, 2006

F.R.2000: Laura Polidori altro "fiocco rosa" della serie


Dopo l'italo-svizzera Simona De Silvestro, accordatasi con Cram, fa il suo ingresso nella F.Renault 2000 Italia un'altro driver del gentil sesso. Si chiama Laura Polidori, 16 anni di Aprilia (Roma), che dopo la classica gavetta nel Karting nazionale viene lanciata nella categoria regina di Renault Sport Italia.

La Polidori, in azione ieri sul circuito romano di Vallelunga, parteciperà al campionato con un team tutto suo da cui ne ha ripreso anche le iniziali: LP Competition. Il team (dai colori giallo-neri) sarà gestito da Mario Iacoangeli, già presente in F.Junior Monza con Andrea Belleggia.

2006: Completed her first season in the Formula BMW USA championship collecting a victory at Lime Rock, six podiums and eleven top-10 finishes en route to a fourth-place finish in the overall point standings. Scored two third-place finishes at the U.S. Grand Prix and made history by becoming the first woman to ever earn a podium result at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

2005: Finished 21st in the Formula Renault 2000 Championship in Italy.

2004: Raced in the French Formula A Championship and finished 15th overall.

2003: Earned a second-place finish in the Trofeo Industria Parma, finished fifth in Wintercup Lonato and was third in Primavera Lonato.

2002: Finished seventh in the Swiss Championship, 13th in Kart-Cup Monaco and second in the Bridgestone-Cup Switzerland.

  • Simona became just the second woman to win in the 34-year history of the Atlantic Champsionip winning the 2008 season opener at Long Beach. It was her first win and came the same weekend that Danica Patrick had her first Indycar win in Japan.
  • Signed with Walker Racing in November 2006 to compete as a rookie in the Atlantic Championship
  • Collected one win, six podiums and eleven top-ten finishes in 2006, her rookie season in the Formula BMW USA series
  • Became the first woman to ever earn a podium finish at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway with a pair of third-place FBMWUSA results at the 2006 U.S. Grand Prix
