Welcome
aboard!
Some things we'd like you to know before you begin.
If you are divorced, seeking custody, abused, an abuser, someone
needing help or know someone who needs help, remember that we are not
online counselors. All the information we know is on the web site,
especially in our Crisis,
Links and Resource
sections. If our web site is not helpful in your case, please contact
a crisis center, mental health center or therapist in your local
community. Many of these resources should be in your local phone
book.
If you are working on a school or university project, we support
your learning, but won't be able to email you any information beyond
what's on these pages. Thanks for understanding our limitations.
Visitors have called us "Easy on the eyes", "Like reading a good
book". At Menstuff®, we keep our graphics to the minimum so you
can load pages faster, get to information quicker and be saved from
the constant scrolling offers and flashing banners. We figure people
come here for information, not to sign up for a credit card or
refinance their home. (The exception happens if you use one of the
search engines where we have no control.)
August 1, 2008 started our 13th year on the
internet. While it is true that we have links to buy over 3,500 books
on the site, I do think it is an important distinction that, in our
first 12 years, we have never accepted compensation to place any ad
on the menstuff.org. And, while we get over 100,000 hits a day, I
have turned down some lucrative offers from advertisers in order to
keep this web site an information based web site.
After that explanation, I need to add that menstuff.org would not
exist today if not for those of you who have made your book purchases
through us. Thank you.
Please send comments on our pages so we can better carry out our
mission of ending men's isolation. Whenever you're ready to go to the
homepage, click on (Homepage)

Overview of the Site
Menstuff.org is the starting point for information for and about men
on the web. Menstuff is an educational web site which serves a
diverse men's community
(men's rights, mythopoetic, pro-feminist, recovery, re-evaluation
counseling, and spiritual). Menstuff has 65 columnist reporting on a
weekly or monthly basis. Menstuff lists thousands of on-site men's
book reviews & covers, men's resources and hyperlinks and
hundreds of events, periodicals and groups. It provides information
on hundreds of men's issues regarding positive change in male roles
and relationships (including abuse,
aging, circumcision,
divorce,
fathers, health,
kidstuff, mid-life,
multicultural,
prostate cancer, relationship,
sexuality,
spirituality,
testicular
cancer, violence,
work, etc.) Menstuff
holds a 4-star rating with Britannica.com
and we update this site at least weekly. We also maintain the
following web sites:

Statement.) (Homepage)
Linking to Us
If you have or know of a web site one men's issues, please let us
know. One of the important ways we can help each other and those out
there who are in need of our information, is to provide hyperlinks to
other related sites. If you would like to add us to your site, please
go to Link to Us. It's easy and will help
us in our mission to end men's isolation. Thanks.

Scroll Down Our Side Bar
The first thing we suggest is to scroll down our side bar to see all
of the pages and options available. We designed it this way so that
if you print out some of our information, you'll get full pages of
information rather than a lot of listings, banners, search engines,
etc. And, you'll use considerably less of your color cartridge, too.
(Homepage)
Lenny
We don't have a lot of graphics or pictures, because they take you
extra time to download. So, we use an icon that we lovingly call
"Lenny", so you can access secondary information that may be of less
importance to other visitors. At the start of many documents it is
often used to give information or to provide a graphic pertinent to
the issue. In the books by issue section, it calls up a copy of the
book cover (example Men's
Lives) next to the book review. In the books by issue section
under Cassettes: audio
or Cassettes: video,
a click will reveal the pertinent j-card cover. So, when you have the
time, click on the "Lenny" icon. It reveals something that Lenny
likes. Check it out! (Homepage)
"Today's" Daily Thoughts
A click on "Lenny" icon or a click on "Today" on side banner
will take you to our thoughts and issues for the day. At 12 mm, today
ends and a new day begins. With it comes the opportunity to move
backward, forward, or stay where you are in life. This section will
also change, bringing you information and inspiration (depending on
how you might look at it). Revisit to see what tomorrow has to offer.
You can also receive these Daily Thoughts & Issues at
home, free. What a great way to start the day! Get all new
information every morning at 12:01 am PST. For our html format,
subscribe at menstuff-html-subscribe@topica.com.

Events for Men in Your State
Menstuff® Events Calendar lists over 800 mens events
through the next 12 months. To find what's happening in your state,
go to the Calendar and
click on the month you want to check out. State codes appear to
the far left of the first line of each listing. If there is an event
in the state this month, a click on the state code will bring up the
first one. You will have to scroll down from there to see if there
are other events in your state during that month. Or, use our search
engine in the left sidebar. Type in the two-letter state code. It
will bring up everything with the state code, including events and
even your state representatives. Click on those months you're
interested in where it says "Men's Events - (the month)". When it
brings up the month, click on the state code. Event listings are
updated at least monthly. You can also find events by type
and by title.

Buy This Book or Subscribe Here
As you can already tell, we don't sell a lot of things. However, as a
nonprofit organization, the purchase of books and magazines through
Menstuff helps continue our work to end men's isolation. So, whenever
you find a book you would like to purchase, click on the words
"Buy this book" or the "Buy
Now" icon. If the book you are interested in doesn't have that
hyperlink or if you would like to see other books on the issue that
we might not be aware of, or you want to buy a book on a totally
unrelated topic, click on the "amazon.com" box at the end of
that issue. This financially benefits our work. The only other items
we sell (bumper stickers, pamphlets and slide-guides) can be found in
our Merchandise section.

To Contact Us
There are several important differences in ways to contact us. For
general messages, use the Contact
Us email at the bottom of the side bar. If you want to add a
group, event, or other information to the site, click on "Feedback"
on the side bar and go to the appropriate form. However, if you have
a comment or want to suggest a change of address, web site or e-mail
on the page you are looking at, go to the email address at the
bottom of that page. With over 218 megabytes of
information, this really helps us find the location relating to your
comments and make the appropriate changes. (Homepage)
Snippets
They are everywhere but are usually hanging on to the very end of a
page. Some call them scratchings, which is Italian for graffiti.
Evidence of snippets goes back to early Roman and Greek times. Ours
don't go back that far but we hope you will enjoy them anyway. Share
your snippets with us at Snippets.
We love original ones, but your favorites come in a close second.

You can make
a difference!
Not only the Federal Government, but many corporations have reduced
their charitable contributions in recent years. This means reduced
services and in many cases, the elimination of services. Many men's
services, like this one, are run out of our homes. We foot the bill
because of our commitment to men, communities, families,
relationships, etc. To keep going, and in many cases just to survive,
volunteers are needed. If you have a few minutes, hours, days,
one-time or over a longer period of time, there is a place that can
use you. We can use you help.
You might also check out our "Resource"
directory under the category that looks most aligned with where you
have been helped in the past, or where you would like to help now. We
are also proud to be part of VolunteerMatch, a national non-profit
system that has listings for volunteers all over the country. You
pick what suits you best. (They don't have a category for "men" yet,
and we're working on them.) Below, you can search for opportunities
that you can do from home, like the opportunities we have. And it
also lists opportunities within a mile of your zip code, 6 miles, 20
miles, etc. What have you done lately? It's never to late
to start!

Fatherstuff
Directory
This is a section of our web site that provides a site map for
father's, their issues, and resources and books pertinent to their
issues. Most men and father's organizations doing father's work are
terribly under-funded and under-staffed. They are often the last
eligible to get funding, if at all. Instead of men's work increasing,
it is actually decreasing. For many years the work has been done by
very few men, usually fathers who want to insure that someone was
there for you when you needed them. For many of these hard-working
men, men who have donated countless hours and many dollars out of
their own pockets, the support hasn't been there and the fire has
gone out.
For all of you who have received support from men, it's time to
give back. It's time to commit to be there for those fathers who
haven't asked for help yet. For, if you don't, not only may they not
get the help they need, but there might not be anyone left if you
need help again. Take this time to go through our Resource
directory and find an organization that you could contribute time
and/or money to. Or, check out VolunteerMatch.
Or, Mencare. Or Volunteers.
We all have opportunities, many that can be done from the comfort of
your own home. Volunteer and contribute to men's work while these
important services still exist. (Homepage)

Our web site is pretty clear when you are going to be leaving to
visit another web site since we usually provide the complete URL and
don't make a habit of hiding it behind a title or burying it within
our own URL. However, in some situations, we have used a subject
title as the link. As we locate these situations within our site, you
will see more of this icon. It simply means that by clicking on the

Men represent 98% of firefighters,
96% of truck drivers, 96% of prison inmates, 96% of school

(while only representing 89% of police and detectives), 93% of

raising children is just as important as the mother's. We are the
majority of the homeless, unemployables, and addicts. And, we out-die
women in all top fifteen major causes of death to give us a seven
year shorter life span. Let's all come out of isolation and start
doing something about this!
